Siskiyou Court

I got a speeding ticket in Siskiyou county, CA. I reside in Los Angeles. Can I petition to have trial in LA?

I received a speeding ticket while traveling through Weed, CA. The total amount is $302 ($238 for speeding; $34 priors assesment; $10 Admin. assesment; $20 court security fee)
I live in Los Angeles, about 10 hour drive from there, and I don’t plan to go there for court appearance, but I also would like to avoid paying $300 (I was slightly speeding, the highway police was driving in opposite direction, then turned around, and by then I was below the limit). Can I petition to have the trial in Los Angeles? How?

I don’t know what law japou has in mind, since I no of no law which would permit your Siskiyou offense to be tried in L.A. (In fact, I am not sure why you want a trial, since you admit you were speeding.) You could have a trial by declaration. The Siskiyou court’s web site is awful, but you can get a general idea here:

You could also probably go to traffic school. That would cost a little more, but would keep the ticket off your record.
