Vital Statistic Records

any free sites to get vital statistic records?

My grandmother was born around 1894 and my grandfather was born about 40 to 50 years before. I know he died when my father was 6 so somewhere around 1936. My father and aunt can’t give me the information due to not remembering (alzheimers) and I am wanting to do a family tree. I am 38 my father is the youngest and he will be 80 this month. So it is quite a job due to the fact of age difference. Anyone know of any free sites to look at?
I live in Texas in Liberty county Thank you both for your information and help

You’d do well to start with birth, marriage and death certificates, bought from count courthouses; wedding stories and obituaries in old newspapers on microfilm from the library, for free; cemetery records and funeral programs (some funeral homes save them), again for free if you call or visit.

If you search the resolved questions for the word “Free” you’ll find people as “How can I find my family tree for free?” 3 – 5 times a day here. The answers to those resolved questions are full of links, tips and warnings, copied and pasted patiently by us top 10 and some others.

Mine got to be so long I made it page on my web site:
