Police said that a Gaston County officer was shot around 2:45 a.m. Monday morning at the 700 block of Dallas-Spencer Mountain Road.
Officers said they received a call about a possible burglary. When they arrived on scene three officers went inside the home, where they found three suspects inside the home. An altercation then took place, and that’s when one of the suspects shot an officer in the foot.
The other officers fired back and killed one of the suspects. The Gaston County Sheriff’s Department and the State Bureau of Investigation are on the scene gathering evidence and trying to clear up details. They did tell Eyewitness News crews that they believe there is a warrant for one of the suspects in Lincoln County.
