Onslow County Marriage License

Military Marriage and Bride not present in North Carolina?

I am asking about getting a Marriage License in the state of North Carolina specifically Onslow County. I have been doing research and everything and I was told as well that you Bride/Groom does not have to present for the license at the court house but must provide a notarized affidavit exactly what is a notarized affidavit for claiming that you are absent but approve of getting the Marriage License.

Also my second question is once I get this License can I go down to the base and apply for my wife to put into DEERs and apply for housing allowance?

We are planning to have a ceremony, but just back in Arkansas within 60 days of getting the license its just I’m planning to do it on a 96 so I can save up leave for a honey moon, and also get a head start on housing allowance so we are all setup once we finally say our vows.

Thank you

If you’re getting married in Arkansas, you must get your marriage license in Arkansas. If you’re getting a NC marriage license then you must get married in NC.

As far as enrolling her in DEERS, I do not believe you can enroll her until you have your certified copy of your marriage license (after the ceremony and the officiant and witnesses sign it it is turned in to the clerk of courts that issued the license – usually by the minister) and you receive a certified copy. Think of it like this – there are too many people that would say they were engaged, move someone in try to collect BAH, etc and then never get married… so I don’t believe your Military PAC will process the paperwork without the license.

Best of luck to you both!
