What does jurisdiction consist of?
Like i know it is the area that police and patrol and stuff. Explain what would happen in this example: a ohio state highway trooper is pursuing a suspect who exits the highway and travels through the jurisdictions or the hilliard city police, the columbus police, and he ends up in franklin county somewhere. Does the franklin county sheriff end up with the arrest duties or is it the highway patrol?
It’s mutually agreed on between the agencies. Generally, the trooper would do the paperwork in this case, while the Franklin county sheriff would book him through that process. Sometimes the trooper will do it all himself, sometimes Franklin county would do it all themselves. It all just depends.
