Iredell County Courts

Question about Iredell County Traffic Court?

I got a speeding ticket going 75 in a 60 through Iredell County, Statesville NC. I was transporting a adolescent client from court in a company van whom the client had threatened to run. I was focusing on the client and unaware of any speeding taking place. As a matter of fact, the speed limit was 70 before getting to that point on I-40 and afterwards it went back to 70. I was told it was a possible speed trap. I have never had a traffic violation before. The state trooper who pulled me over didn’t want to hear anything. He simply asked was it an medical emergency. It was not. I have called to speak to the DA and they won’t allow me to. I’m thinking about doing Prayer of Justice and going without an attorney. I was advised by a friend to hire an attorney. What is best? Is anyone familiar with Iredell County, Statesville NC traffic court or DA?

With your first offense you are assured a PJC. You pay courts costs, but you get no point on your license, or other fine.

If you don’t get cited again for 3 years, the speeding ticket is erased.

When you get to court, the ADA who is rounding up everyone will call your name, and offer you a deal. They do it for everyone. You tell him this is your first ticket and you want a PJC. He will say OK, and get you in front of the judge. You tell the same thing to the judge, and he will say OK. Then you go pay your court costs (It was $100 when I did it 6-7 years ago – bring 150 just in case)
