City Of Norton

I need help identifying a painting I saw in a Norton Anthology I used for my English class last year.?

The painting depicted a quiet city bar, I would assume it’s New York City. Could be Philly or London, but anyway… There were three people in the bar; a man standing next to a woman (the man wearing a suit and hat, the woman wearing a dress, and I believe one of the two was smoking) and a bartender. The painting had a very cool feel to it, set at night. The overall picture was on a street corner, the walls of the bar being all glass. Sorry if this is too vague, but it is all I can remember. The painting may have depicted a bar during the early 1900’s to the 1950’s. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hi! It sounds like Nighthawks by Edward Hopper:
