I am a teachers aide in texas, I got a DWI, just finshed my degree and was hoping to get a job as a teacher, I have told my prinicipal as required, will this keep me from getting a job? No criminal history ever, and I have already been fingerprinted and had background check when I got hired 3 years ago as an aide.
From a legal perspective, a school can certainly take your criminal history into account when making hiring decisions. That said, the answer to your question depends on your the policies of the principal, school, and school district for which you are applying.
