Cuyahoga County Prison

Are you aware of the Ohio free speech trial of blogger Elsebeth Baumgartner?

Elsebeth Baumgartner is from my summer hometown of Oak Harbor, OH. Once a respected attorney and pharmacist, a Cuyahoga County Ohio assistant prosecuting attorney Dan Kasaris who seems very interested in media attention and a retired Judge Richard Markus, have joined forces to disbar Baumgartner and take away her pharmacy license. She is facing 66 1/2 years in prison for simply pointing out missteps by local officials and has been called a “paper terrorist”, interesting since the only people she seems to have “terrorized” are the apparently errant government officials in this case. Is the First Amendment dead? If Baumgartner is convicted it will certainly be dead in Northern Ohio. Please read about this landmark case and comment. Wikipedia has an article on Baumgartner with links to other excellent sources. If you type Baumgartner’s name in any search engine you’ll get a long list of articles on this important case.

This is happening in Kentucky too. Check out www.bluegrassreport.org to see the federal case pending against Gov. Ernie Fletcher by the blog host for removing his blog but not other political blogs from state employee access.
