I got a seat belt ticket in Sonoma Cty, Ca. Where can I go to read the actual law that is behind the ticket?
I checked the Sonoma County Superior Court website and also the DMV for CA. These sites do not link to the official laws of the government.
There must be a place, in a book, where the law is written that authorizes a police officer to issue a ticket to a motorist. In this case I was a passenger who, the officer claimed, was not wearing my seat belt properly.
I am considering contesting the ticket and I would like to get the facts first.

CA vehicle code 27315(d)(1):
A person may not operate a motor vehicle on a highway unless that person and all passengers 16 years of age or over are properly restrained by a safety belt.
