Property Taxes?
Just received my 2009 re-assessment statement. Assessment includes school, county & town taxes.
Property located on Long Island.
Assessed value is $409.000.00.
Next year my taxes are going from $10,100.00 a year to $12,500.00 for 2009. Does this seem right? I know my home has depreciated over the past few years due to the economy…so whats with the drastic increase?
I would guess that this process is a little similar to the process in Texas. The tax assessor uses a computer program that does “volume appraisal work”. In our area if there is a problem you can challenge the value if you can show it is not correct. Get a Realtor to help you gather data for a challenge.
