PCS from home of record, in Central MA. Moving Companies?
Well my husband is in AIT/job school, and as he is prior service this is not our first pcs and they will be moving our stuff from my parent’s house in Central Massachusetts. Does anyone have any idea what moving companies the government typically uses, and what I should expect with this kind of move? About how long does it take from setting up the movers to typically get an appointment?
They contract with different people….my movers from texas worked for beacon…..the movers here in VA are some moving and storage place….It normally takes 1-3 weeks to get them to come…and you cannot set up an appointment without your husbands official orders…the only good thing is you dont really do anything….you just supervise them packing up your stuff all day long…the downside is you have to be there all day long…and they can show up anytime between 8am-5pm,and you must already be in your house….waiting….and you have to stay the whole time they pack it up….however…your husband will have to go to a Transportation briefing before he can set up the appointment and he will learn all about it,the dos and donts there.
