Adams County Colorado, who can give me the real answers on sentencing screwups.?
Okay this guy I know got one year county in colorado and four years suspended sentence where he would serve the jail sentence and then the four years prison consecutive. My friend and I heard this in court by the judge.
Well his public defender sent a letter to him saying he had 3 years in county and then the four years in prison. Then I called the jail they said he was going to do two years in county and one year in prison.
I have called the district attorney and court house plus the public defender, no-one is giving me any answers as to what the real sentence is and he is freaking out so what do I do now??? I don’t know who else to call for him. Thanks in advance.
Definitely go talk to the court – even a public defender should be willing to take another look at that and send him a new letter.
I have to say, it’s a little odd hearing somebody having to serve county time and then prison time – usually they just send them to prison and run the county jail time concurrent.
One other idea – you could have him talk to the public defender to get a review of his case. With all the confusion surrounding this they may just grant it to him.
