Clocked 84 in 65 in Smyth County VA and charged with r/d on ticket. Any Advice??

I’m 21 with a clean driving record. Was clocked 84 in 65 which is wreckless driving in the state of VA. I must go to court thus no pre-pay. If I get r/d driving I could loose my job. Any advice anyone.???

IMMEDIATELY HIRE AN ATTORNEY. DO NOT CONSIDER ANY OTHER OPTIONS, HIRE AN ATTORNEY NOW!!!

A police officer I know in NY was given a reckless driving summons, upon showing up to court, the judge put bail on him and held him in custody sine he was from NY and a “flight risk.” Never mind that he was a police officer in NY!

VA is insane with their troopers and their VTL laws, you definitely need an attorney NOW. I’d take whatever advice is given by the attorney as long as it doesn’t result in a RD conviction. Technically, by NY law, to be RD, the state must prove that there were individuals at risk of your driving behavior. I’d NEVER be able to win a RD case against someone who was merely speeding. Attempting to plea out is where my friend went wrong. He tried to explain to the court that he was only driving fast (same speed as you) and the court convicted him based on his (unsworn) testimony. VA is a joke, but shouldn’t be laughed at! Get an attorney immediately.
