Is there a way to find California divorce records from the late 1800s (Stanislaus County)?
I am most positive that I have ancestors that divorced around1875 in Stanislaus County, California. They were married to each other in 1866 and by 1875 they were both remarried to other people. I can find transcribed records of the marriages, but not of they’re divorce.
Your only source will be in Stanislaus County as the state of CA didn’t require such records be filed till 1905. Try contacting the SC Genealogy Society, their website has a link on the following website, the USGenWeb California Stanislaus County.
