17 year old leaving abusive home….can cops do anything about it ” gray area” Ottawa county Michigan

I need to leave my home my father is physically, mentally and emotionally abusive to me he tells me on a weekly basis that I’m a mistake and that it would be easier if I was dead…I need to leave this house for my well being … I have a friend who’s parents are willing to work with me and give me a good safe home untill I am able to live on my own, I have a job and I am 17 on August 21….Can the cops bring me back to my parents once I leave…I’ve heard that it’s a GRAY area….Please give me any and as much info…as you can give I need all the help I can get….
The cops can take you back to your parents if they report you as a runaway. If they report you as a runaway they can also take you to Juvie when found and you would pretty much have to be released to your parents unless you told a judge you didn’t want to be with them and explained your situation. I am not sure about Michigan, but it I know a lot of places do things like that.
